Day 1. Fly to Ulgii- Drive to Khar Lake

Arrive in Ulgii after a scenic flight from Ulaanbaatar. Meet your local team and begin the drive to Khar Lake. The route passes through open steppe and rugged mountains, offering a first taste of Mongolia's breathtaking wilderness. Settle into camp and enjoy your first evening in the Altai.

Day 2. Horse Ride to Dayan Lake

 

Start your horseback journey through pristine valleys and rolling hills. Ride alongside nomadic herders toward Dayan Lake, a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by towering peaks. This scenic route offers stunning views and a chance to immerse yourself in local nomadic culture.

Day 3. Explore Dayan Lake

Spend the day exploring the tranquil shores of Dayan Lake. Visit Kazakh families, learn about their nomadic tradition, alongside riding. The lake's calm waters and mountain views make it a truly magical place to experience authentic Mongolian wilderness.

Day 4. Ride to Khoton & Khurgan Lakes

 

Continue your ride through the Altai Mountains toward Khoton Lake and Khurgan Lake. These twin lakes are famous for their turquoise water, larch forests, and spectacular mountain scenery. Along the way, you may spot ancient petroglyph carved into the rocks.

Day 5. Discover Khoton & Khurgan Lakes

 

Enjoy a full day at the lakeshores. Explore on horseback or on foot, photograph the stunning landscapes, and visit archeological sites rich with history. The quiet and natural beauty of this area is ideal for relaxation and connection with nature.

Day 6. Turgen Waterfall & Khairakt Hill

 

Ride to Turgen Waterfall, a dramatic cascade hidden in the alpine valley. Hike up Khairak Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. This is one of the most scenic spots in the region-perfect for nature lovers and photographers.

Day 7. Rest day in nature

 

Relax and enjoy a peaceful day at camp. You can take a short horseback ride, try fishing, or simply admire the surrounding landscapes. This is also a great time to interact with your hosts and learn more about Kazakh nomadic traditions.

Day 8. Return Drive to Ulgii

 

After breakfast, drive to Ulgii. Along the way, enjoy sweeing views of the steppe and Altai Mountains. Once in town, you may visit the local market or museum and enjoy a traditional Kazakh dinner with your guides and hosts.

Day 9. Fly back to Ulaanbaatar

 

-Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Your 9- day horse riding adventure through Western Mongolia ends with unforgettable memories of its lakes, mountains, and nomadic culture.
