DETAILED ITINERARY


Day 1. Ulgii and Tavan Bogd National Park

Upon your arrival to Ulgii airport, you will meet our expedition team and start driving through sandy mountains of Western Mongolia. On the way stop by archeological sites such as balbal stones from Turkish era and deer stones. Arrive to Ranger Station and pitch camp.

Day 2. Horse Ride to Tavan Bogd Base Camp

After breakfast, you will start riding towards Base Camp 3100 meters from sea level. It is time to experience scenic view of Altai Mountains. Camels will be loaded with travel gears. Gradually ascend to Tavan Bogd Mountains ( Holly Five Peaks), the highest mountains in Mongolia. Camp next to Potanine glacier, the longest and largest glacier in Mongolia

Day 3. Hike around glacier or climb Malchin Peak

Today you can have a rest and have a soft hike around Potanine glacier and enjoy the dramatic view of majestic mountains or climb Malchin Peak 3050 meters from sea level. It is not a technical climbing, but takes  a lot of consideration.

Day 4. Tsagaan Gol ( White River Valley)

Today you ride back to Ranger Station the Tsagaan Gol Valley. This place is summer pasture for Tuvan ethnic group. They speak Tuvan language and practice Shamanism. You might like to taste their distilled Vodka from milk and experience their nomadic hospitality.

Day 5. Altai Mountains Cross ( The Tahilt Davaa)

Again another big day is starting. Today you will pass Altai Mountains Cross as named Tahilt Davaa which means place of Worship.On the top, you will encounter a big pile of rocks called Ovoo which is believed to be one of the holiest place in Shamanism. If you like, you can circle the Ovoo and make a wish as locals do. Overnight in a tent (B+L+D)

Day 6. Bear Valley

Descend long crystal clear streams and scenic landscape covered with flowers and different plants that grow in Altai Mountains. Small waterfalls area beautifying the valley and you will see the varied landscape change from rocky land to forested mountains. Camp close to waterfall.

Day 7. Aksu Valley

Today you will be riding through forested mountains areas and massive valleys will offer you breathtaking scenery, path goes along milky white river. Aksu Valley is summer place for Kazakh Nomads who are famous hunting with Golden Eagles.

Day 8. Khoton Lake and Visit Local Nomads

After breakfast, you will ride along spectacular Khoton Lake and visit local Kazakh Nomads to experience their nomadic hospitality. Kazakhs are famous with their great hospitality and handmade embroideries. You will experience how they decorate inside a Yurt with their embroideries.

Day 9. Ulgii and Eagle Hunter

Early morning start driving to Ulgii. On the way stop by Eagle hunter's family and see his magnificent bird. In Ulgii visit local Free Market (Bazar), mosque and traditional souvenir shops. 

Overnight in a Hotel or Ger Camp (B+L+D)



Day 10. Fly to Ulaanbaatar

After getting your forgettable lifetime experience, you will fly back to Ulaanbaatar.
